IR thermography is an effective means to identify excessive heat loss in a system or material.Every object radiates electro magnetic  energy invisible to human eye, but visible to specialized equipment.Thermal imaging radiometers can detect and measure infrarared radiation, and produce a map of colors or gray that shows the surface temperature of the object. The lighter colours or shades represent the warmest temperatures, and the darker colors or shades the coolest. By analyzing the temperature signatures of the equipment, the problem areas are quickly identified and recorded along with all related temperature information.

The normal operating temperature of a unit is called ambient temperature.Thermographic priority is assigned based on a rise above the ambient operating temp of the unit under observation
The common application related to Infrared Thermography are; Used in inspection of electrical equipment fault detection Used in detecting leaks in building roof and to find fluid levels in tanks and vessels or fluid flow in oil and cooling lines

Infrared Thermography is the technique for producing an image of invisible (to our eyes) infrared light emitted by objects due to their thermal condition. The most typical type of thermography camera resembles a typical camcorder and produces a live TV picture of heat radiation. More sophisticated cameras can actually measure the temperatures of any object or surface in the image and produce false color images that make interpretation of thermal patterns easier. An image produced by an infrared camera is called a thermogram or sometimes a thermograph.Infrared Thermography is the technique for producing an image of invisible (to our eyes) infrared light emitted by objects due to their thermal condition.
